Anita Dongre Summer/Resort 2012, Lakmé Fashion Week

Anita Dongre offered “Waves of Joy” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week. The designs were made from Benares silk, cotton and brocade, the hand painted silks of Jaipur, Ikats of Andhra Pradesh and etc, blended with the tie and dye of Rajasthan. Elegant gowns, maxi dresses, comfortable jackets, fluid palazzos, skirts and delicate lacy blouses gave feminine touches to the collection. The color palette was a mix of pastel with black and white along with gold brocades. The silhouettes were very 1950s, like the flouncy canvas petticoats, which rustled under the full circle skirts of the dresses, with provocative necklines and sensually that cinched at the waist. Anita Dongre opened the show with model Dipannita, and at the same time she revealed the furniture designed for Design HQ from Godrej Interio. Making a foray into men’s wear, Anita showed linen shirts in shades of pink, turquoise and lime, unstructured blazers in neutral tones, trousers in orange and yellow, and black and white jackets with the ombré effect. Anita Dongre staged a beautiful collection for women and men.
