Lara Jensen Spring/Summer 2013

Lara Jensen named her Spring/Summer 2013 collection “Vanitas”, which means “vanity of all vanities, all is vanity.” The concept was based on symbolic art forms of Vanitas and Momento Mori paintings that originated from the 15th century. Lara Jensen created the pieces based on the elements of these paintings by translating the art work into jewellery, sunglasses, mouth accessories and headpieces. Flowers, birds and maggots symbolized life and death. The designer used materials like Swarovski crystals, 18k gold, hand-molded leather and taxidermy to craft unique and edgy pieces. This was a first solo collection by Lara Jensen, where she combined her remarkable millinery skills with jewelery design.
