Amit Aggarwal Winter/Festive 2014Indian designer Amit Aggarwal graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology in 2002, New Delhi. He worked for accomplished designer such as Tarun Tahiliani. Amit Aggarwal was in charge of the design team of Creative Impex, before starting MORPHE in 2008 in a collaboration with the Creative Group. In May 2012, he launched his eponymous label under the namesake. The designer debuted at India Fashion Week and his collection was called as one of the best shows of 2012 by Vogue India, while Marie Claire India and Elle India both announced him as the best young Indian designer. Amit Aggarwal was invited by the Dutch DFA to Amsterdam to be part of the design delegation, and he was the finalist for the British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur Award. In September 2011, he unveiled his line in Paris in a collaboration with Aveda, for the hair and make-up trend show. His work was exhibited at the Arken Museum in Copenhagen from August 2012 until January 2013. The label amalgamates traditional factors with progressive aesthetics by creating precisely executed garments, which represent the metamorphosis of raw influences, both fantastical and mundane. His latest collection opened the Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. Structured and strong silhouettes were emphasized on featuring the body. Amit Aggarwal employed tribal elements like weaving techniques, striped tattoos and architectural jewelery. The black color was saturated with deep tones that appeared on washed silk, crepe de chine and duchess satin, while the tulle softened up the edges. Sushmita Sen, an Indian film actress, model and beauty pageant title holder, closed the show in a black gown with transparent back. The collection carried dramatic, modern and glamorous designs blended with masculine and feminine details.
