Filhas de Gaia created by designers Marcela Calmon and Renata Salles. The brand combines a mix between sophistication and art in the clothes. It has a contemporary, innovative style and unique elegance. Filhas de Gaia was started in 2005. The last collection named “Africa Samurai” was inspired by Afro Samurai manga (comics) by Takashi Okasaki, encounter between Africa and Japan. The creations were made in black, purple, yellow, pistachio green, white and coral colors. The forms were very clean and geometric with elongated silhouettes, mermaid skirts, asymmetry and moments of cuts and cracks. “Inspired by the open walls and floors in houses Okayma.” Marcela Calmon and Renata Salles used fine fabrics and light, such as silk Georgette, silk and crepe. It was their first collection that the brand worked with an African theme. Renata explained: “I wanted to do a merger with another totally different ethnicity to mix Japan with Africa.” The African exuberance, in fact, seemed more in maxi designs. The forms were more “Japanese” with elongated silhouettes. Most of the looks consisted of dresses and skirts with eying to the market parties. The pleated bi-color blouse Marcelia was very pretty and flirty to wear on the streets, since it was so delicate and elegant piece, it can be combined perfectly with a long skirt.
