Ezra, Fashion Forward Dubai Season 3

The Dubai-based Filipino designer Ezra Santos launched his eponymous couture label in 2004. His designs have a Middle Eastern touch combined with a Western influence. Simple and sculptural elegance is blended with intricate embroidery, fairy-tale-feel and precision of the cut. Ezra studied Fine Arts at the Philippine Women’s University, after which he studied Fashion Design at Slims Fashion and Arts School. He took extensive graduate courses in cutting and draping at the Central St. Martins, in London. Ezra Santos closed the first day of Fashion Forward Dubai Season 3 with a spectacular show. This collection represented beauty and the significance of Jardin Majorelle, where Yves St. Laurent chose to have his ashes scattered. Santos transplanted blue and white architecture from the mosaics to the runway and created a multitude of geometric shapes, which were blended with Swarovski crystals and armor inspired pieces that sparkled in the light. The designer portrayed a vision of a modern Berber woman in a magical blue garden of Jardin Majorelle. Midway through the runway, the snowflakes started to fall from the ceiling. The collection highlighted magical, diaphanous and dramatic creations.
