Sidharta Aryan “Aftermath” Fall/Winter 2013-14

“The triangle represents stability, eternity, and structure. The love for the Occult! A spiritual journey inwards.”

Emerging designer Sidharta Aryan from India was born in Mumbai. After graduating from L.S.Raheja Technical Institute of Fashion Technology, he began a fashion career in 2000. He spent 10 years at Stalwarts of Indian Fashion and Film Costume Industries working for Tarun Tahiliani and Badasaab. Sidharta launched his eponymous label in 2010. The concept of the brand aims to bridge a gap between Indian and Western cultures, which provides quirky and contemporary clothing for a modern woman. Sidharta Aryan likes to experiment with unique digital prints, pay attention to detail, and construction while emphasizing on its intricate and original embroidery techniques.

“Borne out of love lost lament and candid fear for the uncertain “Aftermath” Fall/Winter 2013-14 is a collection that resonates the life and patterns of a jaded mind. Torn apart between conventions and following one’s dreams, the collection is inspired by this duality. It seeks imagery from Geode inspired elemental – geometry.”

He makes clothes that resemble objects of art and embrace out-of-the box design. His latest collection “Aftermath” Fall/Winter 2013-14 embodied a minimalistic tone, simple, and structured shapes. It was inspired by the duality that resonated the life and patterns of a jaded mind by being torn apart between conventions and following one’s dreams. The pieces exuded a modern and classic style that was highlighted by geometric prints.

“The show was well calculated and well executed! I was smiling big-time on the ramp!”

“This was the fourth time, I showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week. The only difference was that the garments are very easy to wear. The task was to create clothes that looked complex yet were simple to wear, looked expensive, but didn’t burn a hole in your pocket, and still stayed relevant by creating something new and exciting.”

Sidharta Aryan used a neutral palette of grey, black, and white colors combined with flashes of neon green. Clean and sharp lines revealed flattering, functional, and futuristic looking outfits. The geometric prints were inspired by the geode. Sculptured jackets, asymmetric skirts, sheer t-shirts, Ombre shirt, and etc. were part of a smart and wearable lineup. The tailoring beautifully enhanced the body whilst exaggerating the shoulders, mid-riffs, and hips.

“I like to think of my clothes as an easy escape from the generic duplicates of departmental stores. This collection bears the Sidharta Aryan stamp, but is much more wearer-friendly.”

“The Sidharta Aryan Fall/Winter 2013-14 woman is experimental, bold and a whole lot of fun!”

Sports mesh, luxury nylon jersey, Georgette, chiffon, silks, velvets, and satins materials were merged into the designs.

“Richa Chadda is a brilliant actress and very committed to every cause that she takes up, and being fun is just another advantage of working with her. She looked stunning, very edgy, and bold just like I like my women to look!. Her look was accomplished with support from the make-up and hair genius Tanuja Dabir, who I had the pleasure and honor of working with on my “Cosmogene” Shoot.”

“It was a digitally printed saree with a knife pleated Pallav, that was teamed up with a structured leather/digital printed jacket. The look was reminiscent of a super woman of sorts. One, who is empowered by what she wears, and it was tied with an embroidered belt!”

Sidharta Aryan displayed the dichotomy of cultures by paving the way for a sport-deluxe line that can be transitioned from day to evening wear. He was able to create unique, structured, and innovative garments.

“It was amazing to see the magnanimity of splendor and grandeur of the monuments, architecture, and each painstaking detail in every monument, the oh! So well dressed folks, it’s a paradise for inspiration and a visual treat! The food, people, and life are amazingly different and astoundingly unreal! :)”
