In November, I featured a young designer Tex Saverio from Indonesia, who I believe is going to be one of the top designers in fashion industry. I am not surprised at all that Lady Gaga used Tex Saverio for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine. Lady Gaga likes to use unique and young designers. The black dress by Tex Saverio is just exquisite. I wish that the dress was shown on a different color background not black on black, it is hard to see the exceptional detailing on the dress. After seeing the designer’s collection “La Glacon”, which was presented at Jakarta Fashion Week, it was very clear that Tex Saverio is a rising star in the fashion world. Tex Saverio goes by the nickname of Rio. Each of his pieces has very unique just like the designer himself. He stands out from the crowd with his personal style. Rio wants to design for a strong and independent woman, who knows what she wants and would be not intimidated by his gowns. The designer’s inspiration comes from his fantasies, judging by his creations he has a vivid imagination. Tex Saverio entered the fashion scene and took it by storm, shaking up the fashion community with his incredible designs. Before that, the designer worked as a costumier for four years. Rio was invited to show his designs at Knights for Goddess Fashion Show, the most prestigious event of Jakarta Fashion Week. He was given only two months to create his collection, and he practically worked around the clock, day and night just to finish it. Usually, it takes two or three months just to complete one dress, because the process is very time consuming like doing the research on materials, finding details and making the dress fit right. Tex Saverio’s sanctuary is his workshop, where he spends countless of hours. His shop is grand just like his designs. It has tall ceilings, large mirrored walls and many mannequins that are displaying his art gowns. He has a staff of twenty people ranging from tailors, pattern makers and etc., and their main focus is on finishing the details of garments. Rio’s clothes are one of a kind. He likes to experiment with different materials, like feathers, faux leather and ornate details crafted by the graphic designers. His style embraces theatrical techniques along with technological aspects. Tex Saverio always thinks ahead by looking for new things. He wants to use metal, crystals and earrings in the future. Since he entered the fashion world, his style change by becoming more mature. After the fashion shows, his clientele tripled, so the designer is booked a year in advance. Tex Saverio’s idol is Valentino even though his garments have avant-garde feel of Alexander McQueen, he wants to stay true to himself by being classy with a little bit of craziness. Rio wants to create what reflects his character especially in his collections. “The classy creations with a touch of craziness in it,” said Tex Saverio about his style.
